Côte d’Ivoire: Investment and Economic Cooperation

Abidjan | 27 February – 6 March 2026

European Strategic Initiative (ESI) conducted a working mission to Abidjan to deepen dialogue with Ivorian institutional and economic stakeholders and explore new opportunities for cooperation with European partners in the areas of investment, economic development and territorial development.

ESI was notably received by Solange Amichia, Director General of the Centre for the Promotion of Investment in Côte d’Ivoire (CEPICI). Discussions focused on investment dynamics in Côte d’Ivoire, the country’s economic priorities and prospects for strengthening ties between the Ivorian economic ecosystem and European stakeholders.

At the Senate of Côte d’Ivoire, a delegation led by Alain Acakpo-Addra, Deputy Secretary General of the Senate, received ESI for discussions on the institution’s role in representing local and regional authorities, engagement with the diaspora and parliamentary diplomacy. The discussions notably addressed the links between decentralisation, territorial development, diaspora mobilisation and economic cooperation.

The mission also marked a new stage in relations between ESI and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Côte d’Ivoire (CCI-CI), with the signing of a partnership agreement by Faman Touré, President of CCI-CI, and Grégory Jullien, President of ESI.

The agreement aims to strengthen dialogue and cooperation between the Ivorian business ecosystem and European stakeholders, particularly in the areas of investment, entrepreneurship and economic exchange. ESI will contribute to this dynamic by facilitating connections and the development of partnerships with relevant European stakeholders.

Finally, a meeting with Soumahoro Farikou, Member of Parliament and Mayor of Adjamé, provided an opportunity to discuss the urban and economic development challenges facing this strategically important municipality of Abidjan. Discussions focused on the organisation of economic activity, local development needs and opportunities for cooperation bringing together local authorities, economic stakeholders and international partners.

Through this mission, ESI deepened its dialogue with a complementary range of Ivorian stakeholders — public institutions, Parliament, the private sector and local authorities — and identified several opportunities for cooperation around investment, economic and territorial development, and closer ties between African and European ecosystems.

The mission forms part of Africa–Europe Synergy, ESI’s initiative dedicated to strategic dialogue and the development of partnerships between African and European stakeholders.
